Cannon Rocks

Cannon Rocks  is approximately 135km to the east of Port Elizabeth on the East Coast of South Africa and 180km west of East London.

The name Cannon Rocks originates from actual cannons that were left by two stranded Portuguese ships many years ago. The beaches are riddled with fascinating stories of wrecks and with many still discovering all kinds of ship memorabilia.

The Woody Cape nature reserve that Cannon Rocks flows into has one of the largest shifting sea sand dune fields in the world. One can appreciate this wondrous sight when taking the 7km hiking trial from the village into Woody Cape. This is trail starts only about 300 meters from SonnenMeer.

Cannon Rocks is also known world wide for its ideal kiteboarding conditions and a popular destination for serious kite surfers from around the world.

It is a quiet village where you will enjoy unspoilt beaches, safe bathing, superb fishing and the perfect location to "get away from it all."
