The Apartment
Exclusive top-floor apartment offering luxurious self-catering beachfront accommodation for up to 4 adults. Truly right-on-the-beach living with no roads or open areas to cross going to the beach.
Ideal for 1 or two 2 couples, the apartment has two spacious bedrooms offering magical views of the Indian Ocean and endless beach covered coastline along the Woody Cape nature reserve. Each bedroom has a queens size bed and en suite bathroom. The first en suite bathroom has a basin, toilet and shower-over-bath, and the second en suite bathroom has a basin, toilet and large walk-in shower.

Guest Experience
Private Access
SonnenMeer is a private beach front apartment on the top floor of the main residence. Access to the apartment is separate to the main house.
Beach Access
SonnenMeer is right on the beach, with no roads or open areas to cross to get to the beach. The wooden stair case directly in front of the residence will land you directly onto the pristine Nautilus Beach of Cannon Rocks.
Beach Towels
Beach towels are supplied, so no need to use bathroom towels.
Outside Shower
Upon your return from the beach, wash-off excess sand or take a warm shower outside.
Wi-Fi and TV
Wi-Fi is based on 3G/ 4G Vodacom mobile internet which offers a fair speed. The 128cm LED TV in the lounge is connected to the internet via the Xiaomi Android box, and guests can stream NETFLIX, SHOWMAX, YOUTUBE and DSTV on-line. These are dependent on network availability.
No Smoking
No Smoking and No Vaping are allowed in any of the rooms, but feel free to enjoy your cigarette, pipe, cigar or vape on your patio outside overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Cleaning Services
A maid service is currently not available but a cleaning service can be arranged in advance at a fee. The general upkeep of the apartment, washing of dishes etc are the responsibility of the guests during their stay. For your convenience, the kitchen is fitted with a dishwasher and clothes washer-dryer combo. For extended stays of more than 3 nights, fresh linen can be supplied upon request.
Toilets
Cannon Rocks utilizes a French drain and/or septic tank drainage system. Please do not wash any plastics, sanitary products or harsh chemicals down the toilets or basins. These will block the drainage systems and damage the ecological balance required for septic tanks to function properly.
Water
Our municipal water is generally safe for drinking as it is sourced from a borehole and filtered by means of reverse osmosis. The Eastern Cape is however a water scarce area and SonnenMeer, like most other residences, harvests rainwater to compliment municipal supplies. The rainwater is stored in tanks, filtered and most suitable for washing, cooking, tea/coffee although some guests may prefer bottled water for drinking.
Restaurants
The areas around Cannon Rocks offer a number of restaurants. Cannon Rocks itself boasts with the popular ROES Restaurant, situated on the beach as you enter our village. ROES has a fully licensed bar, offers excellent take-aways and sit-down meals amidst a rustic and “on the beach” look & feel. Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday 11h00 - 19h00 and Sunday 11h00 -15h00. Tel: 083 541 4302
Braai BBQ
Regardless of inclement weather, you can braai on your private patio, watching the whales and commonly seen dolphins playing in the surf just below you. A weber kettle braai is available for a charcoal braai (no wooden fires) in the glass enclosure protecting you from any wind and rain.
Parking
Guest parking is on the paved driveway in front of the sliding gate.
Safety & Security
Cannon Rocks is patrolled by private security day and night and is a remarkably safe community. SonnenMeer is situated at the end of the village with almost no flow-through of non-residents. Vehicles should nonetheless be locked with valuable goods removed.
A small built-in safe is found in your cloak room to keep your valuables.
Socializing
We want you to enjoy your stay as much as possible, but guests are requested not to invite extra people over. No parties are allowed.
Bookings
SonnenMeer does not have credit card facilities and full payment in advance by EFT is required to confirm your booking.
Cancellations
Cancellations can only be done in writing and must be sent to the e-mail address below.
